Roadside Assistance as a Coverage
Roadside assistance will become a coverage in every market
We now require a selection for Roadside Assistance for each vehicle. For existing integrations with our API we currently default this coverage to "selected" to prevent disruption.
Affected Endpoints
Why?
Previously, we required Roadside Assistance coverage for every insured vehicle on a policy. This was a mandatory coverage and no decisions were available for our customers. To provide better flexibility, we now allow customers to opt-out of Roadside Assistance coverage via our API.
Future-proofing
Root's available coverages per state may change in the future as regulations and rating plans change.
In order to best support evolving coverage options, you may dynamically adjust choices using the representation returned by Root's Get Available Coverages endpoint; see this related guide for more details. If coverage customization is not a requirement for your use-case, you may also simply use our Get Suggested Coverages endpoint.
