Customizing Coverages
Background
In auto insurance, there are two primary types of coverage: liability and comprehensive/collision.
Liability coverage is a policy wide coverage that follows all listed drivers on a policy. This coverage protects against the damages our customers may cause to others property or health. This coverage is required by law in all markets so drivers cannot get in accidents and not have coverage for the damages they cause.
Comprehensive/collision coverage is tied to the listed vehicle(s) owned by the customer. This coverage protects against damages done to customers’ vehicles. This coverage is always optional for a customer to add or remove.
At Root, customers have the option to toggle each vehicle to include/exclude comp/coll. Customers can adjust their deductible amounts per coverage (comprehensive or coll) but not per vehicle. If a customer selects a deductible amount, it will apply to all toggled vehicles.
